Review:
I think I should let everyone reading this knows my inherent bias in the film. I have seen twenty-eight film director Clint Eastwood and had most of them, and most of them love (my average rating 7.9 28 movies). Still, something seemed off about the Gran Torino is based on the trailer. I read that Eastwood wanted to be a badass again, try to be Dirty Harry again. Gran Torino is not so. Walt Kowalski may have similarities Dirty Harry, and can not read them, perhaps, as the much older version of Harry (stretch), but it is a unique, memorable character of its own, and Id go so far as to say that , its one of the best performances of Eastwoods, and that gives him a chance to show = int dramatic and comedy chops.Im not going to argue that Gran Torino is the perfect functional head in the supporting cast younger. It does not. In fact, some are downright nasty at times, but the film works in spite of his faults. The manuscript was probably written in Eastwood in mind (I'm not sure of the details behind-the-scenes of this), and it shows. It captures perfectly Kowalski. The film is surprisingly humorous, something that is not closed quite well in advertising. Totally hilarious at times (Kowalski looked at the man who tried to teach him how to talk to Thao than men), and Eastwood deals with changes in tone brilliantly. When the film takes a dark turn towards the end I sat on the edge of my seat suspension, fully aware of what he was going to still mesmerized by the Eastwoods direction of tour-de-force. This is the artist's most important player and still director.Whether or Gran Torino is one of the last great films Eastwoods be seen, and the film seems like it would be a good number of screens.
