Description:

Review:
Paperboy (2012) *** (4) Lee Daniels adaptation of the novel by Peter Dexter look at some of the waste and secret swamp around them. Reporter Ward Jansen (Matthew McConaughey) returns to his hometown to try to solve the mystery behind the sheriff who was killed. Hillary Van Wetter (John Cusack) is executed for the crime, but the author believed to be innocent and drags his younger brother (Zac Efron) and trashy woman (Nicole Kidman) in the matter. Paperboy is rather bad for a group of characters you can not help but hate and its funny to see real change McConaughey picture of it here, as in the past Killer Joe. I think the best thing about the pictures is of functions such as real feel that Daniels director brings to the picture. The biggest problem is the screenplay and the story that I just felt it was not so appealing. Mystery surrounding what really happened to the Sheriff seems to take a back seat and really just seems to come and go frequently. Im really do not know why it was thrown in as much history and especially the twists and turns that come towards the end. With twists and turns that you'd think the filmmakers were missing the story itself that is important, but just never really takes off. It also seems that the director wants to shock the viewer with some violence, rather graphic and sexual situations, which stars all do some pretty wild things. It really looks like the film is build only for each of these scenes, and her right to say that theyre quite memorable. performance of the entire cast is wonderful for both McConaughey and Kidman do wonders with their swamp trash characters. I thought both of them were incredibly reliable and hat off and they go as far as they did. I was also impressed by Efron and I think he could very well developed characters. Cusack was a big play villain disruption and we also had strong support from David Oyelowo, Scott Glenn and Macy Gray. Pictures are also good, as is the soundtrack and atmosphere. Paperboy, as it is, is a good show for its stars but you can not help but feel his missed opportunity as a powerful story would have made it even better.
